Youthful Savings and CUNY CSI to Provide English as a Second Language Courses to Subscribers of The Learning Marketplace

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, September 28, 2023 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Youthful Savings (YS) has recently reached an agreement with CUNY: College of Staten Island to provide English as a Second Language (ESL) modules to non-English speaking learners on their proprietary Edtech platform, The Learning Marketplace (TLM). Access to ESL modules on TLM allows youth subscribers whose native language is not English to learn the necessary language and empowers them in school, at home, and, in the future, the workforce.

Accessing education not traditionally taught in schools is the key to empowering the next generation of citizens. The College of Staten Island’s involvement in providing ESL modules to TLM subscribers promises to be crucial in youth empowerment.

Studies show that lack of English language skills, the dominant language in the U.S. and other parts of the world, disproportionately affects many youth in numerous facets of education and society, slowing down their ability to socialize, develop their communities, and even access the educational opportunities English-speaking youth have in their schools. This form of social hierarchy has a profound, negative impact on the confidence of many ESL youth (Ashcraft 2015). With TLM's structured custom programming environment, youth will have access to learning the English language outside of a traditional classroom setting.

The agreement between CUNY and YS is a significant step towards making education more accessible and empowering for at-risk youth, particularly migrant and asylum-seeking youth entering New York City and other parts of the world. By empowering all youth, including those often marginalized, they can enter the labor market and become an integral part of both the New York economy and the global economy, contributing to the growth of the global economic system.
