Lakers secure 4th and 6th at CLC Indoor Meet

The Detroit Lakes track and field teams held its own in its first-ever Central Lakes Conference meet.

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. — The Detroit Lakes track and Field team traveled to St. John’s University to compete in the Central Lakes Conference Indoor Meet on Saturday, March 5.

The boys team finished fourth with a team score of 51.2 while the girls team took sixth with a team score of 44.5.

Connor Malecka was crowned conference champion with a first-place finish in the 3200-meter dash with a time of 10:21.70. Aubrey Kordosky was crowned conference champion as she finished first in the pole vault with a new personal record of 10 feet, 0 inches. Mamie Hunter placed third in the high jump with a new personal record jump of 5 feet, 0 inches. Natalie Spindler took third in the triple jump with a leap of 33 feet, 10.5 inches.

Coye Braton took second in the triple jump (41 feet, 5.25 inches) and pole vault (12 feet, 6 inches). Blake Johnson placed second in the high jump (5 feet, 10 inches) and Ryan Brinkman took second in the shot put (45 feet, 9 inches).

The 4x200 relay team of Gage Hatch, Brock Jones, Ryan Francis, and Andrew Bartnes finished fifth (1:37.77). The 4x400 relay team of Caden Strand, Billy Thompson, Johnson, and Hatch took fifth (3:48.95). The 4x200 relay team of Ruth Solberg, Spindler, Isabelle Wolf, and Hunter placed fourth (1:54.89).
