MONTANA - 62 percent of those living in Montana say the quality of life in the state is on the decline.

That's the findings of a new University of Montana poll.

Researchers say many people are concerned over how quickly people are moving to the state.

In rural areas drought caused by a lower snowpack is causing huge issues for the quality of life.

And you've probably heard this in some political ads over the last few weeks the changing the character of the state.

The survey asked Montanans to compare life over the past five years.

That same poll also found Montanans want to protect the land.

U of M survey says Montanans want a say in public land use

Over 70 percent of those surveyed want a say in whether the U.S. Forest Service should allow new hard rock mining at the headwaters of the Smith River. And 83 percent support the use of national monuments to protect public lands

According to the University of Montana - more than 500 people from across all political parties were surveyed, with the poll conducted March 23rd through the 28th.
