Indiana reports 1.4M Hoosiers fully vaccinated, 12 additional deaths

The Indiana Department of Health announced 1,198 Hoosiers tested positive for COVID-19 April 11.

INDIANA, USA — This is a weekly blog with daily updates on COVID-19 numbers, COVID vaccine and other related content across Indiana for the week of April 6, 2021.

The Indiana Department of Health announced Sunday that 1,198 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19. That brings to 698,692 the number of Indiana residents now known to have had the novel coronavirus.         

To date, 12,743 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of twelve from Saturday. Another 405 probable deaths have been reported in patients who died with COVID-19 symptoms but no positive test. The latest deaths occurred between Christmas Day, 2020 and Saturday.       

As of Sunday, a total of 3,382,357 vaccine doses have been administered in Indiana. This includes 1,979,829 first doses and 1,402,528 individuals who are fully vaccinated. The fully vaccinated number represents individuals who have received a second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines and those who received the single Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Saturday, April 10

The Indiana Department of Health announced today that 1,380 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at state and private laboratories. That brings to 697,533 the number of Indiana residents now known to have had the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s dashboard.           

To date, 12,733 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of seven from the previous day. Another 405 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record.                                    

A total of 3,299,121 unique individuals have been tested in Indiana, up from 3,294,837 on Friday. A total of 9,187,24 tests, including repeat tests for unique individuals, have been reported to the state Department of Health since Feb. 26, 2020.

Friday, April 9

The Indiana State Department of Health reports 1,374 new cases of COVID-19 and 16 more deaths. Indiana has seen a total of 696,175 positive cases and 12,726 deaths since the start of the pandemic.                              

The seven-day positivity rate from March 27 to April 2 was 4.7 percent for all tests and 12.3 percent for unique individuals. The average rate has been steadily climbing since early March. Data also shows hospitalizations are starting to creep up. 

On Thursday, there were 785 hospitalized COVID-19 patients across the state.

Thursday, April 8

Indiana reported 1,397 positive cases and 16 deaths, bringing statewide totals to 694,836 COVID-19 cases and 12,710 deaths since the pandemic started.

The state's positivity rate for unique individuals increased from 11.7% to 12%, and the 7-day positivity rate for all tests went up to 4.6%.

More than 3.19 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered and more than 1.3 million Hoosiers are fully vaccinated.

Wednesday, April 7

The Indiana State Department of Health reported 1,260 new cases of COVID-19 and 15 deaths Wednesday. Nearly 12,700 Hoosiers have died since the pandemic started.

The 7-day positivity rate for all tests sits at 4.5%, an increase from previous days, while the positivity rate for unique individuals is about 11.7%.

Officials said 25,108 more people have been fully vaccinated in Indiana, bringing the total of fully vaccinated Hoosiers to around 1.3 million people.

Tuesday, April 6

Indiana's statewide mask mandate has expired, now turning into an advisory.

State health officials announced 669 new COVID-19 cases and 11 deaths. In total, there have been 692,240 cases and 12,679 deaths in Indiana since the pandemic started. 

More than 1.25 million Hoosiers are fully vaccinated.

Monday, April 5

Indiana reports 2,949 more Hoosiers are fully vaccinated. That brings the total of fully-vaccinated people in Indiana to 1,244,458.

There were also 762 new cases reported and one more death. The state's death toll from the pandemic is 12,668.

Indiana's statewide mask mandate will end tomorrow after Gov. Eric Holcomb announced he would change it to an advisory.

Under the advisory, localities and private businesses throughout the state will still be able to enforce their own mask mandates. Masks will still be required in K-12 schools, all state buildings and COVID-19 vaccine and testing sites.
